Ribbon Wreath

***Update***

I apparently committed a blogging faux pas when I didn't link back to projects properly so, here is a link to the pin on my Pinterest board and here is a link to the actual post where I originally saw the ribbon wreath.

Thanks for stopping by!

I finally finished it.

What is it?

My ribbon wreath, of course.

Oh? You didn’t know I was making a ribbon wreath?

Well, I was, but I'm not anymore because I quit.

I kid, I kid!

53 years, 7 months, 12 days, 3 hours, 11 minutes, 58 seconds and 260 or so glue gun burns later I have a beautiful orange and black ribbon wreath.

And I do mean beautiful!

First, I cut approximately 3 thousand, give or take, 4-5 inch strips of ribbon. Just look at all that fabulousness.

Then I glued each and every one of them into loops. The trick is to leave this little tail for gluing to the flat surface. Trust me, the first one I made did NOT turn out the way I had intended. The tails will save your life.

Now, I couldn’t use any ordinary “O” (I realize some people might call this a wreath form or a circle, but I like to call it an O), I had to cut out the Oklahoma State O. Seriously, I had to. It was calling to me.

So, this + …

This!

I love it! I really love it! Times a million.

And I finished it just in time for our next game this coming Saturday against KU.

Go Pokes!!!

Oh, and this is my first completed item from my Pinterest Craft Board. Yippee!

I feel so accomplished. Smile

  1. I am laughing! I love the volume of ribbon... it turned out great! I don't think I could ever have the patience to make this! I have been wanting to do the same thing.. create one project a week {or maybe month} from my pins on pintrest...

  2. What did you use to cut the "O" out with? And was there a method to the ribbon madness or did you just randomly glue them on? In just a loop? I LOVE THIS!!!!

  3. Hey kt! I used a plastic sign that looked like cardboard, but I've used plain cardboard as well and wrapped it with black duct tape so I could hang it on my front door without worrying about the elements making the cardboard gross. The only time I lined up the ribbon loops in any kind of pattern was when I went around the edges since I used such a distinct shape, but for the middle part it was completely random. I tried not to put the same patterns side by side, but that was really my only rule. Hope this helps! :)

  4. Amanda, did you just use an exacto knife to cut it out? Did you use hot glue or craft glue? I love this as well!!

  5. Hi Annie! I actually used my heavy duty kitchen scissors and a utility knife to cut it out, but an exacto knife would probably work fine. I used hot glue. Lots and lots of hot glue. :)

  6. Your wreath looks great but it would nice if you included either 1) a link to the actual pin you got this ides from (and not just your broad crafting board) or 2) a link to the website where you saw this idea from on the pin that you pinned.

  7. I want to make this one! Thanks for the idea! Now to get the "O" cut out. Hum,,, that will be my problem.... So you glued the loops. Then glued the "tails" onto the board. Right? You have done a great job. Make more and sell them.. People will flock to buy them! Great job!

  8. Love this! I think I would sew the little ribbon strips together leaving the tails for gluing! Thanks for a great idea. Go Pokes!

    1. Great idea! I didn't have a sewing machine, but that would be so much easier. Good luck!
