Photo Challenge Finale!

It’s the final week of the 20 week photography challenge at A Step in the Journey. It’s been super fun!


We’re ending with a self-portrait which is also how we began the challenge, and if you know me at all you know I LOVE TAKING PICTURES OF MYSELF! Excuse me for screaming, but I seriously love it! I’m kinda weird like that…anyway, in the spirit of Christmas my self-portrait is very festive.


But, wait! There’s more! I’m sharing not one, but three self-portraits! I told you I can’t get enough of myself…haha!



I feel like I have serious focus issues in this one, but since I was using my friends camera and not mine, I’m totally going to blame his camera and not my skills.




I’m 18 or 19 in this photo that’s glued to the inside of this ornament that I then took a picture of so I could call it a self-portrait. Oh, to be that thin again.




And, last, but never least an ornament reflection with my own camera. I seriously need to invest in some silver ornaments. Red is just not very mirror like. I do think the focus is somewhat better in this one, though.




Well, that’s it! The last 20 weeks have been super fun, and I love my camera even more now than I did the day it’s amazing-ness arrived in the mail. Thanks again, LB, for hosting this fabulous challenge!

Photo Challenge Week 19 : From a Distance

 It’s the second to last week in the photo challenge! I’m sad to see it go because it’s been so fun.

This weeks theme is from a distance. I’m actually going to use a phone pic because everything around here looks brown and yucky. I probably have a picture from the Summer I could have posted, but I have a pretty cool one of my Christmas tree that fits the bill.

So, this is something like the one millionth picture I’ve taken of my Christmas tree, and I’ve posted about half of those. I tell you, I cannot get enough of it’s gorgeousness! In other words, fully expect to see even more Christmas tree pics in later posts.





I took this with my phone while sitting on the couch in front of the TV. I seem to spend a lot of time there. Ha! I might have leaned forward a bit, but I doubt it because I am way too lazy for that.


I think this is my favorite phone pic to date. I’m in love.

Photo Challenge Week 18 : A Childhood Memory

I can’t believe there are two weeks left in the photo challenge! It’s been so fun.


This weeks theme is a childhood memory.


I could have taken a photo of so many things for this category, but the other day I was coloring which totally takes me back and what's more reminiscent of childhood than coloring?


So…I was using Sharpies instead of crayons. I had to show my big kid-ness somehow! Ha!





I love coloring. It’s so fun and relaxing. Plus, I keep my Sharpies in a super neat-o OSU coffee mug. Extra cool!

Photo Challenge Week 17 : Someone I Love

This is my “little” brother. I don’t know why, but I just love this picture of him, and well, I guess I love him too.


It’s amazing how you can grow up practically hating your siblings because they’re always touching your stuff or poking you in the shoulder and just generally annoying you to the last straw, but then when you both grown up and become adults you can’t imagine your life without them.


My brother is someone I would consider to be a best friend as well as a family member. He listens when I need to vent. He hugs me when I need to cry. He really is the best (even if he has yet to come visit me at my new house and I’ve lived here over a year…).


I love you lots “little” brother.

Photo Challenge Week 16: Something I’ve Made

If you could get paid to put things off to the last possible minute, I’d be super rich! Ha!












I haven’t made too many things lately, but out of what I have made in the last few months this is definitely my favorite. My OSU ribbon wreath. B-E-A-U-tiful!

Photo Challenge Week 15 : Your Shoes

 I’m always so behind on posting these things. I guess it’s the procrastinator in me.


Oh well, here goes…my shoes. Which are actually my favorite thing to take pictures of! Well, I like to call them feet shots, but it’s basically the same thing.





I took this at the Alumni Center the other day and I’m actually using it on the front of my graduation announcements. Fabulous, right?!

Photo Challenge Week 14 : Sunset

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness.


I feel like I haven’t blogged in years I’ve been so busy.


Plus, last weeks challenge really through me for a loop. I just could not get a decent silhouette picture so I just kinda…skipped it.


Do you think skipping week 13 is bad luck? I hope not!


This weeks challenge is sunset which I was only able to capture with my phone while speeding by it in my mom’s car (she drives like she’s in NASCAR!).






Right after my beloved Cowboys stomped all over the Baylor Bears at America’s Greatest Homecoming Celebration! this amazing beauty painted the sky. I wish I had had my real camera, but at least I was able to get this quick shot to keep my memory alive.


Next week is shoes. I definitely shouldn’t have a problem with that one. Ha!

Photography Challenge Week 12 : Bokeh

Photo Challenge Week 11 : Orange

I was totally going to use an OSU photo for this weeks challenge because let’s be honest I’m rolling in the orange and black, but I didn’t. Or I thought I might show you my Halloween decorations since I finished those yesterday, but I decided not to use those either.


What did I decide to use, you ask?


This!



My parents and I decided to go to the fair today. If that fake cheese isn’t orange, I don’t know what is!


Ok, so maybe it’s neon orange, but it’s still orange AND delicious!

Photo Challenge Week 10 : Hands

This weeks challenge is Hands. My picture technically only has one hand in it, but I like it so I'm going with it.




This is the same little girl from my last post. She had no idea I took this picture. I'm so sneaky! Ha!


 


I’m tellin’ ya…definitely going to be in the LPGA one day! Look at that form! And you know that I know ALL about proper form because of my professional miniature golfing ways.

Photography Challenge Week 9 : A Mess

So, this weeks challenge is a mess. I’m here to tell you I’m surrounded by mess. I am not now nor will I ever be a minimalist. I thrive on stuff and the more I have surrounding me, the better I feel. Now, don’t think I’m a case for Hoarder’s or anything like that. I’m not that bad…yet. Ha!


The following images are what I like to refer to as ongoing mess. In other words, even when I’ve tidied up the rest of the house these two areas always seem to remain piled high with stuff.




This is a metal cart I rescued from my grandparents garage and then painted with Krylon’s Hosta Leaf. She lives at the end of my kitchen counter and her intended purpose is to hold my cookbooks, but as you can see pretty much anything can land here. Mail, watches, bracelets, jewelry boxes, and an external hard drive. Honestly, I don’t even know what all I have piled on here.





Ah, the clean laundry pile. Something tells me, I’m not completely alone in this one.  Although, I'm sure other people at least fold theirs before making a huge mountain out of them.



I hope you enjoyed seeing into the mess that is me. Next weeks topic is hands. Maybe I can get some of those at the golf tournament I’m going to tomorrow!

Photo Challenge Week 8 : Black and White

It’s week 8 of the photography challenge at A Step in the Journey. This weeks subject is black and white. I knew I could take a picture I thought would be great converted to black and white, but I thought why do that when I can take a picture of something that’s actually black and white? And then, I noticed that Laura, the lady behind A Step in the Journey, did the same thing!




I’m making a ribbon wreath in black, white, and orange for my Oklahoma State Cowboys (I’ll share it later in the week) and these are the gazillions of black and white ribbon loops I made this morning. By the way, in case you wondering, hot glue is really hot.




And here is my photo in actual black and white. I used The Pioneer Woman’s Black and White action for Photoshop Elements. Pretty, isn’t it? I like how she adds the edge burn.
